Proverbs 31 is a chapter that I would always hear people talk about and mention whenever you would refer to a godly or virtuous woman, it’s also referred to when you discuss the characteristics that a wife should have. It talks about traits like being a merchant, being a realtor, being a seamstress, helping the poor, watching over the house, taking care of the kids, and being trustworthy; to name a few.

The main scripture I want to focus on in this long list of character attributes is Proverbs 31:11-12 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. Your husband should know that you can be trusted with his heart, his secrets and his children. However, let’s not forget trust is an action that takes two people, it’s something that is built and grows over time. Both parties involved in a marriage have to trust each other. From this trust they will build a confident bond between the two of them and a healthy marriage. As Godly women our husband will be able to search our hearts and find God at the core. I always tell people I had to open my heart to God before God allowed me into Josh’s heart.  Your husband’s confidence and trust in you to take care of home and the children allows him to do the work he is called to do while knowing that everything is taken care of. Always remember you are a team, you work with your husband. My husband and I have created a confident bond filled with trust and love but above all it is filled with God.

I pray you use this scripture to be all that you can be as a trustworthy woman of God. I challenge you to go read the entire passage of Proverbs 31, see this description of a woman as inspiration, as a plumb line for you live by and aspire to be. We should all live according to Gods ideal woman as she is illustrated here, as long as we fear the Lord He will equip us to become this woman. I will leave you with Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. The book of proverbs begins with the command to fear the Lord and this is the beginning of knowledge in 1:7. We are to honor and respect God and obey his word. In other words, we have to fear God, we have to study His word and pray for knowledge and wisdom before we can start to obtain any of the Proverbs 31 characteristics. We strive daily to be the best wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters but are we striving as hard to be a God-fearing woman?
